Hey owls, this is the agenda for today's meeting :))

Meeting No. 2 Agenda (10/6/20) I. Call to Order II. Old Business A. N/A III. New Business: A. Obtainable October; Monthly Prompts i. Explain what a monthly project is, the point system, and the theme for this month. a) Point System for Projects: 5 Points per Project, 0-3 Creativity Points, 20 Points Max. Per Month b) Due at the End of Each Month ii. College Bound Prompts (Information about College) a) Same Grading System as Regular Prompts iii. PIQs: Personal Insight Questions a) Same Grading System as Regular Prompts, But 0-3 Points for Effort b) Give Feedback for PIQs if Requested B. Virtual Touring i. Point System: 3 Points Each, 3 Tours Max. Per Month ii. You can do more if you want to, but you won’t get points for them. iii. Virtual Touring Monthly Theme: Science a) You get five options for virtual touring this month. They will be found on our website. You must fill out an evaluation form for points. b) Evaluation Form: https://forms.gle/XJeyjM2cic6RbpKd9 iv. If you don’t like the tour options we have, you can find another place to virtually tour. However, you need to ask the cabinet for approval. C. Khan Academy i. Year-Round Event; Enroll in the GATE Classroom a) Link: https://www.khanacademy.org/join/MHWC3BMT b) Code: MHWC3BMT ii. Point System: 2 Points per Hour, 20 Points Max. Per Semester D. Vocabulary.com i. Vocabulary.com is a tool for practicing vocabulary with multiple choice. ii. Point System: 1 Point for 50 Questions (5,000 Vocabulary Points), 3 Points for 200 Questions (20,000 Vocabulary Points), 6 Points for 300 Questions (30,000 Vocabulary Points) Total a) Points are given based on vocabulary.com points. iii. Email a screenshot of the “My Progress” page by November 3 (starting from October 6) to rosemeadgateprojects@gmail.com. a) The deadline may change as needed. E. Outside Enrichment/Personal Projects i. Year-Round Event ii. GATE will award members for learning a new skill or topic outside the club (gardening, programming, cooking, financing, etc.). iii. You must track your progress in a time span for learning a skill/topic. If you spend enough time for it to qualify as an extracurricular, you will get points. Members must also do a 2 page reflection on that activity that includes the number of weeks spent on the activity and number of hours spent each week. a) Your reflection should include why you decided to try out the activity and what you learned. b) The time for an activity to qualify as an extracurricular is subjective, but the activities should be long-term (GATE will provide suggestions for activities.) iv. Point System: Mainly from Reflection, 4 points for Entire Activity, No Maximum for Now a) There will be mystery prizes/awards for those who participate. v. This should be a new activity for you to try out. IV. Reminder: Application deadlines are extended to next week. Please contact any friends, especially freshmen, to join if you can. Freshmen will also have less requirements to join GATE now. Contact Katherine if you need a time extension. V. Fun Fact: Leonardo da Vinci invented scissors. VI. Next Meeting: October 20, 2020 VII.
