March - May: Self-Choose

There are no new virtual touring themes for these months. You may choose to virtually tour whatever location you want (as long as it is school-appropriate).


If you want to tour a place that’s not a museum (e.g. a Greek monument), do some light research and write a paragraph about what you learned about that location.

February: History

​

6. Gettysburg National Battlefield - The Gettysburg National Military Park protects and interprets the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War.

January: Science
 

1. Museum of Flight - The Museum of Flight holds one of the largest air and space collections in the US and aims to become the foremost educational air and space museum.

2. Museum of Science - The Museum of Science is a science museum and indoor zoo in Boston, Massachusetts.

3. National Museum of Computing - The National Museum of Computing is a museum in the United Kingdom dedicated to collecting and restoring historic computer systems.

4. History of Science Museum (University of Oxford) - The History of Science Museum holds a leading collection of scientific instruments from Middle Ages to the 19th century.

5. Griffith Observatory - The Griffith Observatory is Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos! You are able to look through telescopes, explore exhibits, and enjoy spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.

December: Art


1.
The Louvre - The Louvre Museum is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. 

2. Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum has medieval and Renaissance artifacts with major collections including arms and armors from Asian and European culture.


3. National Palace Museum -​ The National Palace Museum consists of the world's largest collections of ancient Chinese artifacts, calligraphy, paintings, and porcelain, all objects brought over from the mainland of Beijing (Peking) in the late 1940s.

4. Museum of Computer Art -The Museum of Computer Art archives art installations that are supported by technology with interactive exhibits.


5. Huntington Art Museum -​ The Huntington Art Museum is a collection-based educational and research institution that displays American art.

November: College

​

1. UC System - “The University of California [UC] is a public research university system in the U.S. state of California” (source: Wikipedia). The UC system offers nine universities for undergraduates: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz  (Link to all campus tours)

  • UC Berkeley (Cal) - UC Berkeley is considered a prestigious institution known for its research and highly ranked programs. It is currently ranked as the #2 public university by the U.S. News & World Report. 

  • UCLA - UCLA is a research school that has one of the finest academic reputations in the country and is considered one of the "Public Ivies". It has been ranked as the #1 public university by the U.S. News & World Report for the last four years. 

  • UC San Diego (UCSD) - UCSD is a large public research university known for its strong STEM programs.

  • UC Irvine (UCI) - UCI is a public research university and is among the Top 5 fastest rising universities that provides high ranking programs in science.

 

2. CSU System - The California State University (CSU) system is another public university system. This system has 23 campuses. (Link to all campus tours)

  • Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) - Cal Poly SLO is considered one of the best colleges in the west and is recognized for its outstanding engineering, aerospace, and architecture programs

3. Ivy League Schools - “The Ivy League is an American collegiate athletic conference comprising eight private universities in the Northeastern United States” (source: Wikipedia). The Ivy League consists of these renowned universities: Brown University,  Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University. (Link to all campus tours)

4. Stanford University - Stanford is considered one of the most prestigious colleges in the     world as a private research                        university, known as the “Ivy of the West.”

5. University of Southern California (USC) - ​USC is a very well-known private research university that is known for its academic and athletic achievements.

6. California Institute of Technology (Caltech) - Caltech is an extremely reputable college regarded similarly to MIT, for it is known for being scientifically and technologically focused.

1. NASA's Langley Research Center - NASA's Langley Research Center works to make revolutionary improvements to aviation, expand understanding of Earth's atmosphere, and develop technology for space exploration.

2. California Science Center - Museum that showcases space exhibits, the amazingness and functionality behind space crafts, and the true life of astronauts in orbit.

​

3. Museo Galileo - Presents the legendary Galileo Galilei and promotes the scientific heritage of the past discoveries of space exploration.

​

4. Museum of Natural Science (Belgium) - The world's largest museum hall completely dedicated to the exhibitions of dinosaurs.

5. Idaho National Laboratory (Nuclear Science) - Displays the different possibilities of nuclear energy and its capabilities.
