March Millenium
​
Academic: Mankind has utilized technology since ancient times. From stone tools to machines and computers, humans have been pushing the boundaries in technological achievement. Write a one-page essay on how technology evolved throughout the years.
Creative: There is an endless possibility of innovation. The actions of today have consequences for tomorrow. One small action can set a chain of events. Will we have flying cars? Will we live on Mars? Will we be extinct? Predict what will happen to mankind in the future in a one-page essay.
Artistic: Brainstorm an invention that you would like to create. Then, draw an illustration of your invention and explain what its purpose is. Be creative.
College-bound: After the Supreme Court ruling on Affirmative Action, attention turned to legacy college admissions. According to a 2023 poll (Generation Lab) from 783 college students and recent graduates, 75% believe legacy admissions are “probably or definitely not fair.” Research the topic. What are your thoughts on legacy admissions? Should legacy preferences be kept or eliminated in the college admissions process? Write a one-page essay explaining your opinion.

Forecast February

Academic: When we look into the sky, we see the sun shining in a warm temperature, not knowing the exact degree without our devices. The weather affects our lives regarding clothing choices and the preparation of necessities, such as an umbrella. Without another source (meteorologists) to inform us about the weather, we would face many conflicts. Research the ways and practices meteorologists use to predict the forecast, including what devices they use, and what causes shifts in weather. Additionally, find out how they implement this information into the weather app. (One page long)
Creative: The weather app may change weather frequently resulting in a change of plans. Create a story about meteorologists finding out there is a tornado coming to a certain area unexpectedly, and the citizens are unaware. (One page long)
Artistic: Draw an image of meteorologists in their work finding out the weather conditions. Make sure to include the devices they use.
College-bound: In today’s industry, jobs are difficult to find as graduates from Ivy League schools and UC schools stand out among the applicants. However, is an Ivy League school worth it if it puts someone in debt for many years? How does it compare to a community college in aspects, such as education, connections, etc.? What are the differences between a community college and an Ivy League college? (One page long)

Academic:
Recently, mental health history has been bleak due to a lack of recognition of stigma around mental illnesses. Especially now, as the importance of well-being is becoming more aware to the public, many systems are adjusting. Research about the mental health stigma in schools and education. In a 1.5-page essay, discuss the topics: Why is it important for this stigma to be combatted, and in what ways can we reduce this public shame?? How can this affect students and the future of our world? What can YOU do about this problem in our society?
Creative:
Reflect on your behavior whenever you feel tired or exhausted. Dive deeper into the reasons for these symptoms, and how you can lighten the toll on your mood. Create a list of at least 10 ways to avoid excessive exhaustion or burnout, of which you can use in the future. Describe how you can apply each method in at least three sentences.
Artistic:
As a human being, everyone experiences emotions. Whether it is negative or positive, people express their own feelings in many different ways. Create a digital or traditional image expressing your emotional state as you feel jaded. It can depict an event of where you have felt this feeling, or a depiction of how you feel mentally when an event causes this feeling to arise. Describe all aspects of this piece.

College-bound:
As you venture off into bigger things after high school, you gain more control of the situations you put yourself in. In higher education, your choices of your environment play a major role in how you study, behave, and motivate yourself to become a better person. Accumulate a list of five of your top colleges and research the social life/culture in each of those schools. In a 1.5 page essay, write about how culture is important to other people and why it should be important to you. Consider how this aspect relates to your preferences for social space, mental health, and behavior influenced by your environment.

On top of your developed arguments, refute potential counterarguments with evidence or your process of reasoning.

As luminous stars pepper the night sky, mystical red-nosed reindeer carries Santa’s sleigh through the wintry air. Right within a horse-powered sled lies a time-warping device, allowing Santa and his elves to travel through different eras. The festive season is ending soon, so hurry along because good things never last. With a 1-page minimum paper, create a breathtaking adventure into diverse moments of history during this holiday.
Artistic:
Pivotal gadgets have enchanted modern society with advancements—from global communication to accessible artificial intelligence. Now, it is your turn to examine technological gaps that inventions or innovations of specific devices have bridged. If they had not yet come about, devise and elaborate on a rough idea of what it would appear like. With color, illustrate an uncommon technology that might have a striking impact in the world, including its blueprint design and the significance of the device in a brief caption.
College-bound:
As we progress through generations, the expenses of college tuition have been ascending beyond students’ reach, contributing to burdensome college debt. In order to escape the chains of financial liability, prospective students ought to seek scholarships that will alleviate them from the shackles of these obligations. Research the types of scholarships that you may be eligible for and discover ways to apply for them. Note the return on time investment (i.e. how long it takes for you to apply for one and the prize money awarded) using a rough cash/hour comparison and evaluate if it is worth your time. If you are using any scholarship search engines, paste the website and your resulting matches.

Academic: As the Earth quickly becomes more populated day by day, we humans are becoming more responsible for the actions taken to affect the planet for the worse. Within the past 50 years, global pollution has increased by over 30%, gradually increasing every day. The usage of many nonrenewable resources such as coal, natural gas, oil, and nuclear energy, has effectively increased gas emissions. Research and compose a one page essay on the various methods of how YOU can reduce your carbon footprint and efficiently prevent pollution for future generations.
Creative: Our beautiful, blue and green planet is composed of various landforms including rainforests, deserts, mountains, oceans, etc. In each biome, ecosystems of thriving, vibrant animals and life are bustling! In one page, select five animals from different regions of the world and explain why they are the best in their ecosystem and what makes them unique to their environment.
Artistic: Around the world, there are scenic and enchanting landscapes. From showering waterfalls to serene forests, hidden gems are found everywhere across the globe. What makes a view so memorable and enchanting? That’s up to you! For this prompt, create an illustration or capture a photo of what simulates YOUR dream landscape!
College-bound: As you head towards college, the next chapter in your life, you wonder if joining sororities or fraternities is up your alley. In one page, explain why you should or shouldn’t be involved with these organizations. If not, what other options would you be able to do in your free time?

Our everyday actions are guided by beliefs passed down through generations. Simple acts like knocking on wood to avoid jinxing ourselves or walking under a ladder and breaking a mirror can bring years of bad luck. Explore the origins and significance of ancient practices and their impact on various cultures throughout history. Choose a specific tradition, such as divination, typical superstitions, or astrology, and delve into its impact on historical development, beliefs, and influence on society. Along with investigating the beginnings and influence(s) of your selected custom, analyze the underlying reasons of the particular tradition.
Creative:
Reflect on your own horoscope sign (e.g. Western, Vedic, and Chinese) and its associated traits. Write a 1-page essay exploring how well these traits align with your own self-perception. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of your horoscope sign and reflect on how they manifest in your life. If you find similarities between your self-perception and your horoscope, discuss ways in which you can leverage your strengths and work on improving your weaknesses.
Artistic:
Create an occult drawing showcasing mystical symbols, rituals, or other elements associated with the occult. Use color to convey the mysterious nature of the occult world. Enhance your artwork’s texture by tracing a bold outline.
College-bound:
In a one-paged essay, explain how you are preparing your own list of prospective colleges. Discuss the factors you are considering, such as academic programs, campus culture, location, and financial aid opportunities. Then, categorize specific safety, target, and reach schools you have in mind and elaborate on their rankings. Be sure to incorporate what makes each school appealing, your personal goals and aspirations, and how they align with the institutions you are considering.
