III. New Business

A. Medallions

i. May 1 is the last day for seniors to earn points that can be counted towards the medallion. This will also be the day in which the point totals will be used to determine which members will get the plaques.

ii. If you are in grades 9-11, you can still get points after May 1 that will count for the medallion.

iii. Requirements:

a) 200 Cumulative Points

b) 2 Monthly Projects for Class of 2021

c) 3 Monthly Projects for Class of 2022

f) It is recommended for members to earn 50 points every year and do one project every year!

iv. There are still many opportunities to earn a lot of points. Visit our website for more details on this.

a) Check the points spreadsheets to see your medallion progress.

B. Academic April

i. This is basically like Makeup May, but in April.

ii. There will be no new monthly project themes for the rest of the year, so you can do any of the monthly project prompts from previous months (from October to March).

a) The same point system applies for the monthly projects: 5 Points for Submitting, 0-3 Points for Effort/Creativity

iii. It is highly recommended to participate in this activity for missing points or for fulfilling the requirement for monthly projects.

C. April Upcycling Project: Create something related to gardening. This can be an object for gardening or something that involves plants.

i. 3 Points per Submission (1 Point for Participation, 0-2 Points for Effort/Creativity), 9 Points Max.

ii. Due April 30 @ 11:59 PM

D. AP Exams Resources and GATE Prep Books Library

i. GATE will be sharing a document with some general information and pictures for AP exams that GATE members can use if they want.

ii. It will be a list of suggested resources and tips from upperclassmen that have passed the exam. Let the cabinet know if there are any issues with the document. If members have anything to add, fill out the AP Google form or message a cabinet member.

a) It is highly recommended for sophomores taking WHAP to look at the Google Drive on the resources document because it has lecture notes for WHAP.

iii. There is a library of AP prep books and SAT/ACT prep books. Borrow these books by picking them up from RHS. There will be a photo of the books available on Facebook and on the AP resources document. Fill out the Google form if you want to borrow books.

a) About 2-3 school days after filling out the form, you will be informed of the time for pick up through your preferred choice of contact.

b) Books can be borrowed for up to 3 weeks. You can renew your borrowed book if no one else wants it.

E. Studio.code.org Event

i. This will last to the end of the year. You can get points by learning computer science on studio.code.org. You can earn up to 15 points for a course. More information can be found on previous posts on Facebook (Meeting No. 11) or on our website.

F. GATE Cabinet Nominations

i. There are 6 cabinet positions with 2 of them ONLY available for current freshmen and sophomores (membership chair and historian).

ii. Descriptions of each cabinet position can be found on our website, but we will also go over them during this meeting.

iii. All cabinet positions are 1-year terms.

iv. To nominate someone, state in the chat box who you want to nominate and for what position. You can also unmute and nominate someone. You can also comment on the Facebook post after the meeting.

a) If nominated, please accept or decline the nomination, either through the chat or mic.

b) If you are nominated but you want to run for another position, inform Ada or Alvis before the next meeting (April 20). This will be the meeting for cabinet elections where nominees present their speeches.

c) Being a part of a club cabinet is a great experience, so if you’re having doubts about running, just go ahead and try anyways!

IV. Fun Fact: France was still executing people by guillotine by the time the first Star Wars movie came out.
